Typ DT-STP Series

The pump comprises two principal parts: the motor with its aspiration mechanism, which is completely immersed and forms the flameproof enclosure, and the discharge head. The two are connected by concentric pipes — the inner pipe carries the power supply cable, the outer pipe carries the pumped liquid.

An electric motor-driven centrifugal pump is connected to a manifold assembly by a coaxial column pipe assembly that transfers fuel from the pump to the manifold and electrically connects the motor to the incoming power. The centrifugal motor is submerged in the liquid contained in the storage tank, supplying motor fuel to one or more remote control-type dispensing locations.

STP pump for petrol stations and fuel dispensers

In the fuel retail trade the submersible turbine pump is normally called an STP pump. It stands at the bottom of the underground storage tank and pushes fuel up to the petrol pumps on the forecourt — the in-tank alternative to a suction pump mounted on the dispenser. Because the motor runs fully submerged in the fuel, an STP pump needs no separate priming and can feed several dispensers at once.

An STP petrol pump is sized by the number of dispensers it feeds and by the length of the pipe run.

The Type DT-STP is our own submersible turbine pump ATEX certified for Zone 0 and Zone 1, which makes it a practical submersible pump for fuel station and small oil depot service. It is also known as a fuel dispenser pump, an in-tank fuel pump, an underground tank pump, or simply an STP fuel pump.

Eine STP-Tauchpumpe in Turbinenbauart sitzt am Boden des Tanks und drückt den Kraftstoff zur Tankstelle. Die Branche nennt dieselbe Einheit STP-Pumpe oder STP-Kraftstoffpumpe; in einer Spezifikation erscheint sie als STP-Kraftstofftechnik, STP-Benzinpumpe, Zapfsäulenpumpe, Tauchpumpe der Zapfsäule oder Tank-Kraftstoffpumpe. Als Hersteller von Tauchpumpen in Turbinenbauart bauen wir eine Familie für alle diese Namen — die Serie Typ DT-STP, katalogisiert als STP-Tauchpumpe und mit vollem Namen als STP-Tauchpumpe in Turbinenbauart bekannt.

A submersible pump for gas station forecourts is the same machine as a gas station submersible pump in a truck stop or a petrol station submersible pump at a retail site; the duty does not change with the name. The same unit works as a submersible pump for fuel station islands, a storage tank pump in a small fuel depot, a submersible pump for oil depot loading bays, and an underground tank pump wherever the tank is buried. Read an underground storage tank pump or submersible pump for underground tank specification anywhere in the market and it describes this duty: tank bottom to dispenser inlet, at a petrol station, across a petrol pump island.

Because the motor runs immersed, one submersible fuel pump body covers diesel, kerosene and gasoline. That is a diesel submersible pump for depot and truck lanes, a gasoline submersible pump for car forecourts and a kerosene submersible pump for heating-oil outlets, with ethanol and methanol gasoline blends approved on the same build. A fuel submersible pump bought today therefore does not have to be replaced when the site changes blend.

Motor size follows the number of dispensers and the length of the run, not the size of the tank. A single-island site is normally served by a 0.75 HP submersible pump, a 1.5 HP submersible pump or a 2 HP submersible pump; a busy multi-island forecourt takes a 3 HP submersible pump or a 5 HP submersible pump. At the top of the range a 5 HP submersible turbine pump is a 1000 L/min submersible pump — which is what makes this a high flow submersible pump and a high capacity submersible pump rather than a domestic unit. The hydraulic end is a centrifugal submersible pump; the submersible pump motor behind it is supplied as a single phase submersible pump build at 220 V or a three phase submersible pump build at 380 V.

Every model is an ATEX submersible pump. The motor and its aspiration mechanism form the flameproof enclosure, which makes it a flameproof submersible pump approved as a zone 0 submersible pump for the tank interior — a submersible turbine pump ATEX installation covered by type examination certificate IEP 26 ATEX 1836X, with EAC approval for the Eurasian market. The motor housing is IP68, so the same IP68 submersible motor seal that keeps fuel out of the winding also keeps the enclosure flameproof.

Above the tank, the discharge head carries the manifold, the lifting eye, the electrical connector and the line check valve, and the motor hangs below it on a column pipe. Two pipe builds are offered: galvanized steel, or a telescopic pipe that takes up burial-depth tolerance on site without cutting pipe. The Type DT-STP is made in China as a drop-in replacement for Red Jacket and Blue Jacket submersible turbine pumps — a Red Jacket STP replacement or a Blue Jacket replacement on an existing forecourt.

Most Red Jacket submersible pump and Blue Jacket STP sites are not new builds. The station was commissioned years ago, the pump has reached the end of its service life, and what the owner needs is a unit that goes back into the same well, the same pipework and the same electrical supply.

A Red Jacket STP replacement order is confirmed against the site, not against a photograph. Send us the model you are taking out, the tank depth, the number of dispensers it feeds and the litres per minute you need at the busiest nozzle.
